Rita Dias mini thread
For my next player analysis I decided to look at Länk Vilaverdense’s winger Rita Dias. For this I looked at the 6 games from which she won a place in the starting eleven and in these 6 games she started to make a name for herself. In these last games Rita played on both wings and managing to score 3 goals in them. Here are two images and you can see Rita’s positioning:
When Länk don’t have the ball
When Länk have the ball:
As you can see from these images Rita tucks into a left midfield role creating a 5-4-1 system for Länk. When they have the ball she moves to part of a front 3. If Rit is playing on the right side then it stays the same but with her being on the right side. Rita being in this defensive helps to give Länk a solid defensive structure. This defensive shape has been one of the reasons to why they have had a successful season. Rita is very successful at carrying the ball out from a defensive and you see this in this clip. She brings the ball out with confidence before playing a defence splitting pass.

Furthermore, another key strength Rita Dias is her ability to press off the ball. Her knowledge of when to stay in shape and start to press is a big threat for Länk. In this game against Sporting you see her start a press by herself which causes a big opportunity for Länk. Unfortunately for Rita she couldn’t take the chance as it is a great save from Seabert.
Länk shape is dependent on Dias to drag the full back more centrally. This allows their full back (Marau in this image) to push on. You can see this here as they have an overload on the left side but on this occasion the ball doesn’t find them.
This clip is from the right side and it shows Rita can also dribble her way out of danger. Her dribbling ability is her biggest strength and she is unlucky not to get an assist here. There have been countless times this season I have seen Rita do this type of close control dribbling and each time it has paid off for her. Such a joy to watch.

Finally, I want to touch on Rita’s confidence in front of goal. I will show two goals that Rita has scored following skill to beat her opponent. These goals have lots of similarities but the main difference is that one is scored with her right foot and one with her left. This shows how two footed she is and how this can be unpredictable. The ability to finish with both feet means that the defenders can’t force Rita onto her weak one as she doesn’t have a weak one.
